Dr. Robin Ackerman Dr. Robin Ackerman, owner and founder of Balance Family Chiropractic, attended Loyola University in Chicago and then received her doctorate in Chiropractic from Palmer College of Chiropractic in 2000. She worked as an associate at Ginsberg Chiropractic in Geneva for three years before opening Balance Family Chiropractic in 2003.
Dr. Ackerman, one of only a handful of pediatric specialists in the nation, received her diplomate in Chiropractic Pediatrics in 2005 after three years of postgraduate studies. She enjoys working with newborns through adults, caring for many families. She regularly lectures to numerous groups and organizations on topics such as autism, asthma & allergies, ADD/ADHD, hormone balance & infertility, ear infections, fibromyalgia and trigger point therapy. Dr. Ackerman decided at the age of 15 to become a chiropractor after talking with her uncle, Dr. Steve. She had been suffering from excruciating headaches following a car accident and Dr. Steve explained how chiropractic could help. After just a few adjustments she was in awe at the feeling of relief from her headaches. Dr. Ackerman is now blessed to be able to help other adults and children that may have the same ailments. Dr. Ackerman is married to her husband, Scott, and is a mother of an active 10 year old named Gabriel. In her free time she enjoys cycling, healthy cooking, church activities, and spending time with her family. Dr. Garrett Klein Dr. Garrett Klein is a native of Illinois and a graduate from Palmer College of Chiropractic in Port Orange, FL. Before attending Palmer, he received his Bachelors of Science degree in Biology from the University of Iowa. Dr. Klein participated in the Palmer Clinic Abroad program where he traveled overseas to provide care to underprivileged citizens in various regions of Vietnam. During this program, he was able to help treat over 300 people with various musculoskeletal and visceral disorders.
Dr. Klein first experienced the power of chiropractic following several recurring sports related injuries in both high school and college. Once he began chiropractic care, he noticed a tremendous change in his overall wellness and a renewed ability to actively participate in sports without pain. He credits chiropractic adjustments along with physical therapy for naturally allowing his body to recover faster while stabilizing his spine in order to prevent future injuries. It was during his course of chiropractic care where he found his passion and desire to help others gain the great benefits of chiropractic that he had. In addition to his Doctor of Chiropractic degree, Dr. Klein is also studying to become a Certified Chiropractic Extremity Practitioner (CCEP), allowing him to address the spine as well as all the joints and extremities. He currently holds certification in Graston technique, a soft tissue modality often used on many athletes and runners and has also obtained his Certification in Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy (MDT) of the lumbar spine; a philosophy of active patient involvement and education that is trusted and used by practitioners and patients all over the world for back, neck and extremity problems. During his free time, Dr Klein enjoys golfing, road biking, and spending time with family and friends.
